Editing a Serviceman's Page
== How to Edit a Member Page == {ToC} === Prerequisites === First, you must have an account. You cannot edit a page without having registered that account. You can register a new one or log in with your existing one [Login.aspx|here]. Please note that an account is not created automatically — we expect to know something about you before we allow anyone in. === Step 1: Navigate to the Page === Use the search box and enter the serviceman’s name, or go to the [++Servicemen|Serviceman's Page] and click the tab with the first letter of the last name. Then search under the appropriate squadron to find the correct entry. === Step 2: Click the "Edit" Tab === Once on the page, click the '''Edit''' tab at the top. === Step 3: Make Your Changes === __'''NOTE'''__: Each serviceman’s page is divided into sections: * '''Service During the War''' ** __Recorded Missions__ Contains the tag: <NoWiki>{s:MemberMissionList}</NoWiki> This tag generates missions for an airman. '''Do not edit or remove this tag''' unless you're actually updating/creating a page for a member of the ground crew. ** __Personal Accounts__ Add any stories or anecdotes about the serviceman's wartime experience here. * '''Life Before the War''' * '''Life After the War''' ==== Editing Sections ==== You can edit the page in two ways: # Click the '''Edit''' button at the top-right of the page to edit all sections at once. # Click the '''Edit''' link next to a section heading to edit that section only. ==== Uploading a Portrait ==== Each serviceman’s page can include a portrait. If no portrait has been uploaded, you'll see a placeholder silhouette in pastel blue. To upload a portrait: # Convert the photo to a `.jpg` file, if it isn’t already. # Rename the file to '''WikiPortrait.jpg''' (this name is required). # Use the '''Choose File''' button to select the photo. # Click '''Upload''' to attach the file to the page. # After saving and refreshing the page, the portrait should appear automatically—assuming it’s named correctly. ==== Adding an Album (Optional) ==== You can add additional photos in an album. Instructions for this feature will be added later. ==== Adding a YouTube Video (Optional) ==== You can embed YouTube videos on the page. Instructions for doing so will be added later. === Step 4: Preview Your Changes (Optional) === Click the '''Preview''' button to see how your edits will appear before saving. === Step 5: Save the Page === Enter a brief '''summary''' of your changes (optional but helpful), then click '''Save''' to publish the page. === Notes === - If you make a mistake, don’t worry—you can always revert to an earlier version of the page using the '''History''' tab. - Some pages may be protected and require special permissions to edit.
